The Sensory Diet Planner

Cover of The Sensory Diet Planner, ATypical Family Kit No. 03 — a free guide to building a sensory toolkit.

Amazon provides the products. We provide the plan.

Not a food diet. A menu of input for the day.

The right input, at the right time, so regulation is built into the day — not chased after the meltdown.

The guide

  • The six systems a sensory plan usually touches: proprioceptive, vestibular, tactile, oral, visual & auditory, and routine
  • What each kind of input actually does, and which tools deliver it
  • A day in our house — not a prescription, just a picture of how it gets lived
  • A shop-ready toolkit split into CORE and ADD-ON, organized by system

The planner pages — print and fill in

  • What your OT prescribed, by system
  • A day in your house
  • One week of input — photograph it, send it ahead of the appointment
  • Patterns & questions for your next visit

Pairs with The Calm Corner Blueprint — also free — which lays out the regulation space where most of this actually happens.

We're parents, not therapists. A real sensory diet is assessed and prescribed by an occupational therapist for your specific child. Use this to build the toolkit and learn the language, then let your OT build and tune the actual plan.

Weighted tools: never more than 10% of your child's body weight, and clear it with your OT or pediatrician first.

Therapy brush: the Wilbarger protocol must be taught by an OT — don't freestyle it.

Blow toys: latex balloons are a choking hazard for children under 8. Supervise, or leave the balloons out.
